ZipAssist Student Assistant

Position Summary: ZipAssist Student Assistants serve as the first point of contact at the Simmons Hall Information Desk, providing customer service to students, families, and visitors. They assist with student service needs by checking in students, directing them to appropriate offices such as Financial Aid, the Registrar, and Student Accounts, and helping them navigate university systems as needed. Assistants manage daily operations of the Campus Cupboard, including walk-in support, inventory, and maintaining a clean and welcoming space. They also connect individuals to campus resources and assist with events, outreach, and projects.

Supervision: ZipAssist, Sr. Assistant Director

Responsibilities:

  • Provide welcoming and professional customer service to students, families, and campus visitors
  • Assist students with service-related needs, including financial aid, registration, billing, and off-campus living, while guiding them in navigating university systems
  • Answer and direct phone calls in a courteous and efficient manner
  • Support Campus Cupboard operations, including staffing walk-in hours, restocking inventory, transporting items, maintaining clean and organized food spaces, assisting with volunteer coordination, and managing donations
  • Share accurate information and connect students and families to appropriate campus resources
  • Assist with projects and administrative tasks as needed
  • Represents the office at tabling events, New Student Orientation (NSO), and other campus programs as needed

Qualifications or Requirements:

  • Strong verbal communication and active listening skills
  • Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills
  • Ability to clearly and accurately respond to questions
  • Ability to stay composed when questions arise, locate information, and ask for help when necessary
  • Basic knowledge of campus departments and resources, or willingness to learn
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrates initiative and a proactive work ethic
  • Positive attitude with a high level of energy and professionalism
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5
