Engineering Technician Intern
Position Overview
We are currently looking to add a dynamic Engineer Technician Intern to our passionate team of environmental professionals. The Engineering Technician Intern supports civil engineering projects by applying foundational knowledge of physical sciences, mathematics, and engineering principles. This role assists in the planning, design, and development of commercial and residential land development, site development, stream restoration, and utility projects. Work is performed under close supervision, with responsibilities expanding as technical skills and experience grow. This is a part‑time position with flexible hours based on workload and class schedule.
Job Duties
- Learns to assist in the planning and design of commercial and residential land development, stream restoration, and utility projects.
- Learns to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Learns to use judgment when assisting in the design of storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, grading, and stormwater management components.
- Learns to prepare design calculations and engineering plans that comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Learns to assist in preparing contract documents, including project specifications and quantity/cost estimates.
- Learns to use construction inspection report data to prepare as‑built drawings for final approvals.
- Learns to assist with local, county, state, and federal permitting and other regulatory requirements.
- Learns to support the entitlement process from conceptual/preliminary layouts through final regulatory approvals.
Required Education and Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an ABET‑accredited Civil Engineering program.
- Graduation with a Civil Engineering degree required to advance to the next level.

- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or AutoCAD Land Desktop (or working toward proficiency).

- Able to follow instructions and interact with team members effectively.
- With experience, participates in more complex discussions and may interact with external contacts.
Collaboration
- Works closely with supervisors while learning core engineering practices.
- With experience, supports and collaborates with other team members.
Additional Role Details
Work Environment: Primarily office-based with occasional exposure to outdoor site conditions.
Supervision: Works under close supervision; assignments reviewed for guidance and development.
Travel: No overnight travel anticipated; limited local day travel may occur.
Other Duties: Responsibilities may evolve based on project or business needs.
