Client Success & Business Development Intern

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Internship Program is designed to provide a structured, hands-on experience that integrates meaningful work with intentional learning and development. Interns are embedded within a team to contribute to real business priorities while gaining exposure to organizational practices, tools, and cross functional collaboration. 
 

Throughout the program, interns will engage in project-based work aligned with team goals, participate in curated professional development sessions, and receive ongoing support through regular check-ins and feedback. The program is structured to ensure clarity in expectations, consistency in experience, and accountability in both performance and development. 
 

The program also includes phases and key touchpoints such as onboarding, orientation, midpoint feedback, and final presentations or deliverables. These components are designed to support intern engagement, reinforce learning, and provide opportunities for reflection and growth. 
 

SCOPE OF ROLE

Reporting to the Vice President of Client Success & Business Development (CS & BD),  the CS & BD Intern serves as a key member of the CS & BD team, supporting the team’s efforts while learning how the team works while working with a national nonprofit focused on improving financial health for all. The CS & BD team delivers membership benefits and experiences to our nearly 75 network members, manages a large portfolio of relationships with financial institutions and employers, and drives business development to secure funding for FHN’s mission. 
 

The intern will contribute to projects across our team’s portfolio of work, including project scoping and pricing, proposal development, funder and client prospecting research, member experience delivery, and technology enablement, gaining exposure to nonprofit fundraising, stakeholder relationship management, and business operations in a highly collaborative team environment. 
 

The intern should be available to work 40 hours a week beginning June 1st through August 28th.


EDUCATION

Currently enrolled Undergraduate (current Sophomore or Junior) or Graduate Student preferably seeking a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Business, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Operations, Marketing, or Communications.

13 WEEK PAID INTERNSHIP

$25.00 (Hourly)
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to work effectively across teams and stakeholders
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Strong writing, research, and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented and dependable
  • A growth mindset, with the ability to learn quickly, adapt to new environments, and accept feedback
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Apps
  • Comfortable working across documents, spreadsheets, and online research tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Financial services industry knowledge preferred
  • Interest in fundraising, sales, nonprofit management, client relationship management, and/or membership association operations preferred
  • Familiarity with CRM technology tools preferred.
     

RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the internship could include the following:

  • Develop new Excel-based tools for scoping and pricing projects
  • Contribute to the development of proposals, sales decks, and other collateral for fundraising
  • Research new prospective funders, clients, and members to build our prospect pipeline
  • Analyze the membership industry landscape to identify emerging trends, topics, and opportunities that can inform member content and programming
  • Assist with the development of member content, including case studies, Q&As, newsletter features, and blogs
  • Assist with the preparation of strategic materials for funder, client, and member meetings
  • Identify and execute improvements to our infrastructure and processes for delivering member benefits, tracking member engagement, managing client relationships, and business development
  • Identify and document key quotes, data points, and insights that support our ability to tell the story of our impact for funder and client audiences
  • Help organize and maintain content assets, project trackers, and internal resources to support team collaboration
  • Research new CRM technology tools or additional features of our existing tools to inform our team’s future technology roadmap
  • Support the design and execution of member events and experiences 
  • Collaborate with other teams as needed
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.
