Paid journalism intern: The Boerne Star
NOTE: ONLY FOR STUDENTS AT TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY-SAN ANTONIO
Duties
The intern will improve journalism skills and gain a deeper understanding of newspaper publishing by working 20 hours a week to produce stories, shoot photos and sit for, and take part in, the newspaper's weekly podcasts. The hybrid internship will require the student to split their time as follows:
- working in the Boerne newsroom
- conducting some reporting and interviews in Boerne, including coverage of meetings or events when necessary.
- working remotely when appropriate
Intern will improve additional skills such as social media posts, photos, videos and other content as needed by the newspaper.
Coverage will include local news, meetings, features, profiles and sports, depending on the intern’s skills and interests and the newspaper’s needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
The intern must have successfully completed foundation courses in journalism, such as COMM 2311, Media Writing and COMM 2312, Multimedia Literacy. Strong reporting, interviewing and writing skills, knowledge of AP Style and the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics.
Pay
From the newspaper:
At least $50 a story
