 Position Title: Birthday Party Coordinator 

Location: Ellanor C. Lawrence Park: 5040 Walney Road., Chantilly VA 20151 

Hours: Summer: 20-30 hrs/week. Weekends required.  

Salary: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour.   

 

Overview:  Ellanor C. Lawrence Park is seeking an enthusiastic naturalist/coordinator to schedule, assign staff, and lead natural/historical interpretative programs throughout the year. This position will reflect our site’s mission: To preserve, conserve, and interpret the natural, cultural, and recreational resources of Ellanor C. Lawrence Park, which enriches communities in western Fairfax County. 

 

Duties:  

  • Under the supervision of the Senior Interpreter: Responsible for supporting park birthday parties and classroom/pavilion rental operations to include meeting clients, scheduling event coverage, attending events, set-up, clean-up, and follow-up related to rental operations. 
  • Position will assist in site programing, writing and program development.  
  • Position will interpret natural and cultural stewardship messages related to Fairfax County Parks, use, and the resources within ECLP.  
  • Manager on duty, custodial duties, and other duties as assigned. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Applicants must have enthusiasm for working with children and have excellent communication skills.  
  • Applicants should have knowledge in natural history, science, history, education, parks and rec or a related field.  
  • Applicants have at least one year of experience in teaching, interpretation, education, parks and rec, summer camps or a related field. 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. 
  • Hiking distance of up to 3 miles per day.

Necessary Special Requirements:  

  •  All successful applicants must agree to a criminal background check including fingerprinting, attend mandatory training, possess current or acquire first aid and CPR certifications before the start of camps. Valid Driver's License.
