Interventionist
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the Interventionist provides targeted academic interventions to students identified through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. The interventionist works with individual students and small groups to support achievement in core academic areas using district-approved curricula, assessments, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
This position is responsible for using student data to identify academic needs, implementing interventions, progress monitoring, and communicating student performance to stakeholders. The Interventionist collaborates with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff to strengthen instructional practices and support student success. The interventionist also assists the administrative and counseling teams as directed by the principal or designee.
Essential Functions
- Provides targeted academic intervention to students demonstrating skill deficits or academic performance concerns within the MTSS framework.
- Works with individual students and small groups to deliver supplemental instruction aligned to identified academic needs.
- Assists in administering, reviewing, and interpreting academic screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring assessments.
- Develops and implements intervention plans, lesson plans, and instructional materials that support academic skill development.
- Uses a variety of instructional strategies, materials, and technology tools to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Monitors student progress using data, adjusting interventions as needed to improve outcomes.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of interventions, student performance, and progress monitoring data using district systems.
- Communicates student progress to teachers, administrators, and families as appropriate.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers and instructional staff to align interventions with core instruction and academic goals.
- Participates in MTSS meetings, data team meetings, and problem-solving discussions focused on academic achievement.
- Supports staff by sharing instructional strategies, resources, and best practices related to academic intervention.
- Engages in ongoing professional development to remain current in research-based academic intervention practices and MTSS implementation.
Additional Duties
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
- Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
- Uses standard classroom equipment such as an interactive board.
Travel Requirements
- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
- Experience working within an MTSS framework.
- Background in academic intervention at the elementary or secondary level.
- Familiarity with progress monitoring tools and data warehousing systems.
- A strong foundation or experience in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and/or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
- Experience participating in or facilitating data team or problem-solving meetings.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
- Middle Level certification, pending or eligible for emergency certification considered.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline.
- Master's degree preferred.
