Position: Program Director (Full-Time) 

Supervisor: Clubhouse Director 

Department: Core Staff 

Hours: Monday-Friday, 12-8 p.m. (some weekends required) 

Location: Program Directors will be assigned to one Clubhouse but may be asked to cover at other Clubhouse locations when necessary. 

 

General Function: Under the leadership of the Personnel Director and Clubhouse Director, the Program Director will plan, supervise, and lead structured activities that are designed to empower youth, ages 6-18, to excel in school, become good citizens, and lead healthy, productive lives.   Responsible for leading all staff with role modeling positive professional relationships. Delegate duties to create a comprehensive and inclusive team.

 

Expectations:  

       Program Schedule & Tracking

  • Plan the Clubhouse schedule and ensure that all staff, interns, and 

volunteers are prepared for their roles

  • Accurately track program attendance and outcomes 
  • Complete assigned tasks on time with minimal supervision 
  • Attend and make a positive contribution to team meetings and staff

trainings 

  • Update the daily program schedule two weeks in advance for Clubhouse Director approval

Boys & Girls Club Culture

  •         Demonstrate and communicate the core values of the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster
  •         Ensure that programs are carried out in keeping with the agency’s values, mission,   

        vision and plan

  •         Create a culture of inclusion, where all youth, staff, and visitors feel welcome
  •        Actively participate in agency meetings, events, and traditions
  •        Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues
  •        Adhere to all club policies for safety and professionalism guidelines

Youth Development 

  • Engage Club members with a high level of enthusiasm and energy 
  • Inspire students to make good choices about their educational, personal, physical, 

social, and emotional needs 

  • Promote and motivate participation in activities 
  • Be a responsible and positive adult role model 
  • Provide recognition to students through positive validations and affirmation

on a regular basis 

Clubhouse Safety 

  • Set clear boundaries for Club members by enforcing Club rules and policies 
  • Continually monitor and supervise the safety and behavior of all Club members 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment 
  • Supervise food service operation 
  • Follow safety policies in practice and to follow trained procedures

 

Staff, Intern, and Volunteer Guidance

  • Be a leader and role model for staff, volunteers, and interns 
  • Hold adults accountable for their actions 
  • Maintain clear communication about schedules and lesson plans with staff, 

interns, and volunteers

  • Help train and onboard new staff, interns, and volunteers and create an 

atmosphere of growth and cooperation 

  • Provide constructive feedback about programming

Professionalism 

  • Participate in monthly Professional Development
  • Develop Professional Development plan with Training & Compliance Coordinator
  • Complete assigned tasks on time with minimal supervision 
  • Maintain smooth flow of communication with other staff and volunteers
  • Attend and make a positive contribution to team meeting and staff
  • Understand appropriate time and place for conversations with staff and parents

 

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Experience in youth development, education, or recreation (i.e. coaching) preferred 
  • Familiarity with the diverse population that the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster serves 

 

Skills: 

  • Ability to adjust to a fast pace of work, think on your feet, and use common sense 
  • Ability to manage a group of kids with distractions/interruptions 
  • Ability to relate to and motivate youth of various ages 
  • Ability to resolve conflict and manage behavior 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with families, staff, volunteers, and Club 

supporters 

  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment 

 

Physical Requirements/Work Environment: 

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time 
  • Ability to watch and listen to youth activities 
  • Ability to move easily across a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces 
  • Ability to bend and lift a minimum 40 pounds 
  • Ability to clean and sanitize
