About the Program
Communications High School, an award winning school that is a Monmouth County Career Academy. is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking educator to join our school community as the founding teacher of our anticipated Interactive Media & Game Design CTE program. Building upon our existing Computer Science and Technology coursework, this position will lead the expansion and design of a new program pathway that integrates UI/UX design, programming, and game design — preparing students for high-demand careers at the intersection of technology and creativity.
Certifications & Endorsements
Candidates must hold or be eligible for a New Jersey teaching certificate with one or more of the following endorsements:
- Interactive Media — Code #4150 or Computer Science Technology — Code #4148
Accepted credential types: Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE/CE with Advanced Standing), or demonstrated academic/professional qualifications with willingness to pursue Alternate Route certification.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience in industry or teaching.
- Demonstrated knowledge of or experience in game design, interactive media, UI/UX design, programming, or related fields. Ability to build upon and enhance established program frameworks with design informed by industry trends and technological advancements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the expansion of the existing CTE program with a curricular vision rooted in emerging industry trends and evolving technologies, ensuring graduates are prepared for the demands of a rapidly changing workforce.
- Provide instruction across areas including game design and development, interactive media, UI/UX design, virtual/extended reality, creative digital media, and introductory programming.
- Integrate emerging technologies including generative AI tools, virtual interfaces, and digital media production platforms into daily instruction. Utilize industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, game development engines, and design prototyping tools.
- Build and sustain partnerships with industry advisors, mentors, and organizations to create authentic experiential learning opportunities for students.
