Tech and Production Specialist

Summer Tech & Production Specialist Intern -- Camp Weequahic

Camp Weequahic is a traditional, co-ed sleepaway camp in Lakewood, PA (Pocono Mountains) that has been running for over 70 years. We are looking for a Tech & Production Specialist to own all things IT, AV, and technical production for Summer 2026. This role can be structured as an internship for academic credit or as a paid seasonal position.

What You Will Actually Do

You will be the go-to person for every piece of technology on a 100+ acre campus serving 400+ campers and 200+ staff. That means you are not sitting behind a desk. You are setting up sound for an outdoor movie night, troubleshooting a walkie-talkie system for 50+ staff members, rigging lighting for a full-scale musical, and building an inventory system so every cord and adapter has a home.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot all camp technology: walkie-talkies, bunk music players and speakers, printers, projectors, and computers
  • Serve as the technical lead for the theater program, handling sound, lighting, and AV for productions during program days
  • Partner with the special events team to execute the technical side of camp-wide events (think: color war breakouts, talent shows, outdoor concerts, banquets)
  • Build and manage an organized system for all tech equipment, cords, and accessories so nothing gets lost in the shuffle
  • Be the on-call tech resource for staff across camp when something breaks, glitches, or needs a creative workaround
  • Maintain and set up AV for all-camp gatherings, assemblies, and evening programs
  • Manage printer and computer stations used by office and program staff
  • Drive camp vehicles for supply runs and equipment transport (preferred, not required -- 21+ with clean driving record)

You Are

  • Technically proficient with AV equipment, basic networking, and general IT troubleshooting - or a fast learner who figures things out
  • A problem solver who stays calm when the mic cuts out five minutes before showtime
  • Detail-oriented and organized enough to build systems that keep equipment accessible and accounted for
  • Self-directed and comfortable working independently without someone looking over your shoulder
  • Flexible and willing to shift gears when camp needs you somewhere unexpected
  • A team player who is comfortable working with theater directors, event coordinators, and counselors who may not speak tech

Internship Credit

This role is ideal for students studying theater production/technical theater, stage management, film and media production, audio engineering/sound design, information technology, event management or hospitality, or communications and media studies. We are happy to work with your academic advisor to structure this experience for credit. You will leave with real portfolio material: live productions you tech-directed, events you executed from setup to teardown, and systems you built from scratch.

Compensation & Details

  • Salary: $2,500-$3,500 for the season (based on experience)
  • Room and board included (housing and all meals provided on campus for the full summer)
  • Dates: June 4 - August 10, 2026
  • Location: Lakewood, PA (Pocono Mountains)

Why This Role

This is not a desk job and it is not a camp counselor role. You will run your own department, make real decisions, and see the direct impact of your work every single day. The theater director is counting on you for opening night. The events team needs you for the biggest night of the summer. And when 200 staff members pick up their walkies on day one, those things better work. If you want a summer where you are challenged, trusted, and doing work that actually matters to people, this is it.
