PRP (MINOR) Specialist
The PRP (MINOR) Rehabilitation Specialist reports directly to the PRP Program Director and provides support to all staff in the PRP program. Under Maryland statute, the PRP and its staff. Provide community-based comprehensive rehabilitation services and supports designed to promote resilience, facilitate development or restoration of appropriate skills, increase positive interactions across multiple environments of the persons served, develop living skills and promote successful integration into the community and the use of community resources.
PRP (MINOR) Specialist Responsibilities
● Work as an integral part of the treatment team to deliver evidence-based practices for improvement of living skills, goal setting, and addressing appropriate needs for those served.
- Assists with temporary caseload coverage during staffing changes, ensuring continuity of care for PRP clients
- Work collaboratively with the PRP Director to maintain service continuity, support administrative functions, and contribute to the ongoing development and strengthening of the PRP Program
- Function as a community-based representative of the agency, supporting PRP Counselors through coordinated rehabilitation services that promotes skill development, engagement, and recovery-oriented outcomes
- Collaborate with internal and external referral entities and treatments teams
● Develop an Individualized Rehabilitation Plan with the person-served that outlines goals and implemented interventions
● Ensure compliance of treatment documentation, scheduling, and treatment tracking reports that are compliant with COMAR, local, and federal regulations.
● Collaborate with the treatment team to keep others informed of therapeutic or environmental changes of those served. In appropriate cases, collaboration with the client’s family may be within the purview of the PRP Rehabilitation Specialist’s tasks. Minor children should always have collaborative relationships with legal guardians or parents and the treatment team to ensure appropriate service delivery, consents, and to be informed of treatment status and direction.
● Review therapeutic and PRP case notes monthly or as needed and collaborate in writing with the therapist. This report should include progress toward PRP goals and objectives, observed negative and positive behaviors, environmental changes and stressors, self-harm or harm to others assessment, and protective factors and strengths of those served.
● Provide proper supervision to PRP Counselors who interact with clients or their families. Rehabilitation Specialists are to escalate any concerns to appropriate members of the treatment team and their supervisor immediately in the case of a crisis, including cases of self-harm or harm to others
● Update schedule in company software as needed or on a daily basis to assure proper logs are maintained, the location of PRP Counselors is known at all times by the supervisor on duty, and to assist in scheduling changes or new entries by other staff or management into the calendar.
● Maintain all safety protocols prescribed by TIS and regulatory bodies to assure the safety of those served, their family, and the PRP Counselors at all times. Training in these areas must be completed before meeting with clients or their families, per company policy.
● PRP Rehabilitation Specialist are required to train for the Columbia Suicide Assessment Certification and the Daily Living Assessment Certification and pass appropriate examinations for certification.
● Provide all assessments, proper consents, and documentation to appropriate staff in a timely manner for pre-certifications and concurrent insurance authorizations.
● Case notes must be entered into the appropriate company software in regulatory timeframes. Notes should be documented in a concrete, concise manner appropriate with industry standards and within the PRP Counselor’s scope of practice.
● All contact with those served and their families must be documented in appropriate software. The appropriate content should be noted.
● PRP Rehabilitation Specialists should maintain and limit standards of self-disclosure as agreed upon with their direct supervisor and within company regulations. Dual relationships with those served and their families are prohibited.
Work Hours
Minimum of 40 hours per week onsite with flexible scheduling. Supervision may be provided for academic or certification purposes. PRP Rehabilitation Specialists can increase hours, as desired, within the parameters of program growth and appropriate levels of case management ability and skill.
PRP (MINOR) Specialist Qualifications
● Minimum of 2 years experience working with youth with a serious emotional disorder.
● Licensed mental health professional OR Certified by the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association and has obtained a certificate.
● A valid driver’s license in the appropriate State must be maintained and all relevant driving events must be reported immediately to the PRP Director. If the transportation of those served is provided in a personal vehicle, then the vehicle must be maintained in good working order, and be properly insured and licensed in the appropriate state for usage. A legal, working vehicle must be available for use during working hours.
