POSITION TITLE:                

Teacher of the Transition Classroom

LOCATION:                          

Clare-Gladwin Career & Technical Education Building; 3200 S. Clare Ave, Clare, MI

REPORTS TO:                       

Area School Principal and/or Director of Special Educator/Special Education Supervisor

WORK SCHEDULE:             

Full-time; Five (5) days per week

SALARY:                               

According to the Terms of the Master Agreement for AFT Michigan

STARTING DATE:                

2026-2027 School Year        

JOB OBJECTIVE:

To provide direct education services to students with disabilities focusing primarily on daily living skills, prevocational, and career preparation and exploration areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:              

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field of study is required. 
• Valid Michigan Teacher's Certificate.
• Possess an endorsement in special education that is valid in grades K-12.
• Endorsement as a Teacher of students with disabilities, as defined by the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education, including R340.1781 is required.
• Endorsement as defined by the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education, including R340.1786, R340.1799, R340.1788 is preferred.
• Experience working with special education students specifically cognitive impairment and autism spectrum disorder.
• Experience teaching or supporting secondary students with disabilities, preferably in a transition-focused, functional skills, or community-based setting.
• Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
