Summer Intern — Retail, Social Media, Brand Outreach

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

WASH. is a Boston-based body scrub brand that turned a boring bathroom step into a social moment. Founded by a former teacher who started making scrub during the pandemic and decided to build the best body scrub company that’s ever existed — WASH. is now known for its interactive retail experience, cult-favorite hand & body scrubs, and a brand voice that doesn’t sound like anything else in skincare.

Our home base is Faneuil Hall Marketplace, one of the highest-traffic retail spots in the city. Our setup is simple: a branded stall, some portable sinks, and a 60-second demo that sells itself.

We’re hiring summer interns to join the team from May through August. This is an in-person role (approximately 20 hours per week, $20/hour plus commission). You’ll work directly with the founder and a small crew. You won’t be in the background, you’ll be pitching products, creating content, and doing real brand-building work from your first shift!

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

WASH. speaks like the friend who can give you their current fav skincare recs. You don’t have to be a skincare expert, but we’re looking for passionate people who like to give their honest reviews for the girls who need a little boost in their routines.

You’re a great fit if you’re:

  • Outgoing, warm, and genuinely good with people — you can talk to anyone and make it feel easy
  • Confident and comfortable on camera — you’ll be representing a beauty brand on the sales floor and on social
  • A self-starter who doesn’t need to be micromanaged — you see what needs to happen and you do it
  • Quick on your feet and energized by a fast-paced environment where every day is different
  • Interested in skincare, beauty, branding, content, or retail — bonus if you’re already creating
  • Reliable, on time, and organized — a small team only works when everyone shows up

You probably aren’t the right fit if you’re:

  • Looking for a behind-the-scenes-only role — this is a customer-facing, on-camera position
  • Not available to commit to ~15-20 hours per week in Boston from mid-May through August
  • Uncomfortable speaking to the public— that’s the core of what we do

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Your time will be split between three areas. Retail is the heartbeat of this role — content and outreach fill the rest.

1. Retail Sales — The Main Event

You’re the face of WASH. at Faneuil Hall. You’ll offer hand scrub samples at our branded sink station, walk people through the experience, pitch the product, and close the sale. The product does most of the heavy lifting — your energy does the rest.

2. Content & Social Media — Make It Look Good

You’ll work with the team on short-form video and social content that actually sounds like WASH. — not like every other skincare brand on your feed.

  • Strategize and script video content (Reels, TikToks, Stories)
  • Appear in and capture raw in-store content
  • Track trending social media content
  • Handle light community engagement and comment management

3. PR, Outreach & Events — Get Us Out There

You’ll contribute to the brand’s growth beyond the storefront — getting WASH. in front of the right people, in the right places, at the right time.

  • Draft and send influencer outreach via DM and email
  • Build and maintain influencer, media, and press contact lists
  • Write PR pitches to local and niche media outlets
  • Research summer events, pop-ups, and collab opportunities in Boston
  • Brainstorm and coordinate partnerships with local creators and complementary brands
  • Manage gifting logistics, communication, and follow-ups
