Electrical Automation Engineer Intern
Job Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on Electrical Automation Engineer Intern to support the automation and electrical engineering needs of our gasket manufacturing operations. This role provides exposure to automated die-cutting systems, compression molding presses, CNC cutting machinery, robotic material handling, and vision-based inspection systems. The intern will assist in enhancing equipment performance, reliability, safety, and process efficiency through electrical design and automation solutions.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with programming, testing, and troubleshooting of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems used in molding, material handling, marking and testing.
- Support updates and modifications to electrical control panels, wiring, and equipment layouts for automated production lines.
- Help integrate sensors, load cells, temperature controllers, and other electrical components used in gasket production equipment.
- Participate in diagnosing electrical and control issues related to presses, cutters, ovens, and inspection systems.
- Help optimize machine cycle times, energy usage, and process consistency by adjusting control logic and electrical components.
- Maintain and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation for machinery and automation upgrades.
- Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams on continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing downtime and improving quality.
Coordinates With: Lead Center Management Team, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, Human Resources, Vendors, Customers and other external parties as required.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in high school or a vocational school program and will be enrolled through the Fall of 2026.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing automation concepts including automation principles, sensors, and machine control.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret mechanical or electrical drawings.
- Effective communication skills and willingness to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
