Laboratory Assistant

University Lab Partners seeks an enthusiastic and detailed oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our dynamic team. The primary objective of the Laboratory Assistant in this position is to support the ULP facility and the Life Science Pathway for advanced high school and undergraduate students through lab-based curriculum development and instruction.

Reporting to the Director of Education, the Intern will play a vital role in supporting various laboratory activities. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset. They will demonstrate a proactive approach and willingness to learn and teach new techniques and procedures as well as helping with other projects as needed.  This role offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the learning experiences of students and gain valuable experience in a dynamic laboratory setting. This is an onsite, part-time position.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Life Science Pathway courses.
  • Prepare solutions and cell cultures for classes.
  • Assist with sourcing and receiving course reagents and materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies.
  • Assist in creating, evaluating, and revising standard operation procedures.
  • Ensures that the laboratory is cleaned and kept in an orderly manner.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as creating manuals and monitoring enrollment.
  • Personable and articulate with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Other administrative and networking duties as needed.
  • Other ad hoc projects.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology or engineering or related field.
  • Preferred working experience in an industry or academic laboratory
  • Knowledge of fundamental laboratory including cell culturing
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Must be able to lift over 25 pounds and be able to stand for multiple hours at a time.
  • Having taken the ULP Life Science Pathway Courses is highly desired.
