Position Summary: The Director of School Systems provides leadership and strategic direction for Tulsa Public Schools’ school-facing digital systems. This role is responsible for establishing priorities, standards, and governance that ensure district systems are usable, reliable, and aligned with instructional and operational goals. The Director oversees the School Systems
team and works collaboratively with Information Technology, Academics, Enrollment, and school leaders to ensure systems effectively support teaching, learning, and school operations across the district.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
● Bachelor’s degree in education, information systems, business, or a related field; or four
● (4) additional years of progressively responsible experience in a related area in lieu of the degree.
Experience:
● Five (5) or more years of experience leading complex systems, programs, or cross-functional initiatives
● Experience working with enterprise or school-facing digital systems
● Prior team management experience is desired
Licenses and Certifications:
● None
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
● Ability to manage and develop a diverse staff, lead projects from concept through implementation, and manage priorities across teams and stakeholders.
● Ability to make disciplined tradeoffs under fiscal, operational, and organizational constraints while protecting school experience and system quality.
● Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and build understanding and buy-in for new ideas and approaches.
● Ability to analyze complex situations, manage conflict, and develop solutions in dynamic and evolving environments.
● Ability to work collaboratively across departments to build alignment and deliver results.
● Knowledge of educational systems, resource constraints, and improvement practices in a large public school district.
