Job Description: Director of Worship and Children Ministries
Overview:
This position is a full-time position tasked with 1) planning, preparing for and leading a blended worship service that connects with all ages, promotes authentic worship, and proclaims the uncompromised message of the Gospel; 2) directing the children and their families of West End Baptist Church through a relationship with Jesus.
Qualifications:
- Clear testimony of a life that has trusted in and is walking with Jesus Christ
- Experienced in planning, preparing, and leading worship services
- Experience in working with children is preferred
- Agrees with our church’s beliefs and doctrines
Abilities:
- Skilled in reading music and singing or playing music/instrument
- Quality singing voice and engaging stage presence
- Team builder with good relational skills and a positive attitude
- Willingness to accept and follow direction from the Pastor
Music Responsibilities:
- Lead the congregation in uplifting worship experience and direct the flow of the service.
- Develop a weekly order of service in coordination with the pastor and communicate it in advance to the members of the worship team and tech team.
- Build the worship technology presentation for each week’s service. This includes such things as announcement graphics, countdown videos, and song slides.
- Recruit and/or develop new musicians, singers, and tech team members sufficient to carry out the weekly needs of the service and prepare for future needs.
- Develop a yearly budget for the service and follow the financial guidelines for purchases.
- Engage in the body of the church as an active member by joining a Bible study group, seeking to make connections with members beyond the worship stage, and supporting the vision, mission, and pastor.
- Be available as needed for special events, including weddings and funerals.
Children’s Ministry Responsibilities:
- Oversee children’s ministry by providing direction, support, and training for volunteers. This position will also teach the students on Wednesdays.
- Plan and facilitate Wednesday gatherings to include activities to excite the children, a Bible Study to excite their soul, and food to nourish the body.
- Equip parents to be the primary disciple-makers of their children.
- Develop a discipleship plan for children.
- Coordinate regular office hours Wednesday as set by the Pastor and be available by phone and text throughout the week.
- Participate in a yearly job performance review.
- Stay current with Children’s Ministry practices by reading, attending children’s ministry conferences, etc.
- Function as a member of the staff and perform other duties assigned by the Pastor.
Experience/Education: Experience/education are important for consideration.
Compensation: The position is based on quality completion of the assigned responsibilities. This a full-time position paid a bi-weekly or a monthly salary.
