Vocal Music Teacher

BH2 STREAM School is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and skilled Vocal Music Teacher to lead and grow a vibrant vocal music program for grades K–12. The ideal candidate will cultivate a love for music, develop vocal technique, and build confident performers while integrating creativity, discipline, and excellence into every rehearsal and performance.

This role is essential in helping scholars discover their voice, express themselves artistically, and develop teamwork through choral music.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging vocal music instruction for grades K–12
  • Develop scholars’ vocal technique, tone production, sight-reading, and performance skills
  • Direct and rehearse school choirs and vocal ensembles
  • Select appropriate and diverse choral repertoire for various grade levels
  • Prepare scholars for performances, concerts, competitions, and special events
  • Integrate music literacy, theory, and history into instruction
  • Encourage a positive, disciplined, and encouraging rehearsal environment
  • Collaborate with staff to support school-wide programs and events
  • Identify and nurture scholar talent, including solos and small ensembles
  • Prepare scholars for community performances as requested.
  • Maintain organization of music materials, equipment, and rehearsal schedules

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or related field 
  • Valid teaching certification (North Carolina preferred or ability to obtain)
  • Experience directing choirs or vocal ensembles (school or church setting)
  • Strong piano/keyboard proficiency preferred
  • Knowledge of vocal pedagogy and choral techniques
  • Excellent classroom management and leadership skills
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities
