Theatre Teacher
BH2 STREAM School is seeking a creative, passionate, and dynamic Theatre Teacher to develop and lead a thriving theatre arts program for grades K–12. The ideal candidate will inspire scholars through acting, storytelling, and stage performance while building confidence, creativity, and collaboration.
This role is essential in cultivating expressive scholars who can communicate effectively, think critically, and perform with excellence both on and off the stage.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging theatre arts instruction for grades K–12
- Teach foundational and advanced acting techniques, including voice, movement, and character development
- Introduce scholars to theatre elements such as improvisation, script analysis, and stage presence
- Direct and produce school plays, skits, and theatrical productions
- Guide scholars in audition preparation and performance skills
- Incorporate theatre history, terminology, and appreciation into lessons
- Encourage a positive, inclusive, and disciplined rehearsal environment
- Collaborate with music, dance, and media departments for productions
- Oversee stage design elements such as basic set, props, and costumes (as applicable)
- Organize rehearsals, schedules, and performances
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre, Drama, Performing Arts, or related field
- Valid teaching certification (North Carolina preferred or ability to obtain)
- Experience teaching theatre or directing productions (school, church, or community)
- Strong knowledge of acting techniques and stage production
- Excellent classroom management and leadership skills
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
