Instrumental Music Teacher

BH2 STREAM School is seeking a passionate, skilled, and visionary Instrumental Music Teacher to develop and lead a comprehensive instrumental music program for grades K–12. The ideal candidate will inspire scholars through instrumental performance, build foundational and advanced music skills, and cultivate discipline, teamwork, and excellence.

This role is instrumental in establishing a culture of musical achievement while giving scholars opportunities to perform, grow, and express themselves through music.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging instrumental music instruction for grades K–12
• Teach fundamentals of music, including technique, tone production, rhythm, and music literacy
• Provide instruction across a variety of instruments (woodwinds, brass, percussion, and beginner strings if applicable)
• Direct school bands and instrumental ensembles (beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels)
• Select appropriate repertoire that challenges and develops scholar musicianship
• Prepare scholars for concerts, performances, competitions, and community events
• Organize and manage rehearsals, sectionals, and performance schedules
• Maintain and care for instruments, music library, and equipment
• Assess scholar progress and provide constructive feedback
• Collaborate with other fine arts staff to support performances and school programs

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Music Education, or related field 
• Valid teaching certification (North Carolina preferred or ability to obtain)
• Experience teaching instrumental music in a school or community setting
• Proficiency in at least one primary instrument; working knowledge of multiple instruments preferred
• Strong understanding of band pedagogy and ensemble directing
• Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
• Strong communication and leadership abilities
