Digital Literacy Teacher

BH2 STREAM School is seeking an innovative, tech-savvy, and creative Digital Literacy & Creative Writing Teacher to equip scholars with essential 21st-century communication skills. The ideal candidate will blend technology and writing instruction to help scholars become confident digital communicators, storytellers, and critical thinkers.

This role is essential in preparing scholars to effectively navigate, create, and communicate in a digital world while developing strong writing skills and personal voice.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging instruction in digital literacy and creative writing for grades K–12
• Teach writing across multiple formats, including stories, essays, blogs, scripts, and digital media
• Develop scholars’ skills in grammar, structure, storytelling, and written expression
• Introduce digital tools such as word processing, publishing platforms, and multimedia storytelling
• Teach responsible technology use, digital citizenship, and online safety
• Guide scholars in the writing process: brainstorming, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing
• Incorporate project-based learning, including blogs, digital portfolios, and publications
• Encourage creativity, originality, and scholar voice through both written and digital formats
• Provide regular feedback and assess scholar progress
• Collaborate with other departments (theatre, media, STEM, arts) for interdisciplinary projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Education, Educational Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Valid teaching certification (North Carolina preferred or ability to obtain)
• Experience teaching writing, digital literacy, or technology-based courses
• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
• Proficiency with educational technology and digital tools
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
