Teacher - Project-Based Learning (Industrial Arts)

TEACHER - PROJECT-BASED LEARNING (INDUSTRIAL ARTS) - MIDDLE SCHOOL

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is in a middle school Industrial Technology classroom. The facility is both a classroom and a shop for students to experience hands-on and project-based classes and activities such as Woodworking and Exploring Technology (STEM type projects).

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Teaches district approved curriculum 
  • Creates a safe and respectful classroom environment for all learners 
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology to engage all learners
  • Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all lessons and units
  • Uses a variety of formative and summative assessments 
  • Takes a trauma-sensitive approach when working with students 
  • Communicates professionally to students, parents, and colleagues 
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations 
  • Ability to adhere to and teach all students shop / tools safety protocols 
  • Ability to manage students in a large project-based environment 
  • Ability to work with community partners for fundraising/supplies/and project ideas 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university required
  • Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with a TE endorsement (preferred) or on an alternative path/route to obtain the required endorsement(s)
  • Must be highly qualified as defined by the Michigan State Dept. of Education
  • Experience working with at-risk youth
  • High degree of technology skills (Google Suite)
  • Experience/Coursework in MTSS and PBIS preferred, but not required
  • Desire to collaborate with peers and work as a team

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Position starts at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.  Wages, benefits, and work year as defined in the Teachers’ Master Agreement

SALARY:  Commensurate with experience and background based upon Salary Schedule in the AEA Master Agreement

LOCATION:  L.E. White Middle School
