Summer Internship Project Engineer

SUMMER INTERNSHIP 

PROJECT ENGINEER | SUPERINTENDENT | PROJECT MANAGER


Job Type: Full-Time / Monday - Friday 

Compensation: Competitive Hourly Rate

Date Range: May - August 2026 (dates finalized upon hiring)

Location: Clarendon Hills, IL or Indianapolis, IN 
 

Holladay Construction Group is seeking summer interns pursuing degrees in Construction Management or related fields. HCG provides a diverse and engaging internship program, incorporating life skills with on-site skills in an experience that allows students to gain a robust perspective on the construction industry.

 

Summer Interns will play a crucial role in supporting the Superintendent and Project Manager on an assigned project. They are responsible for performing routine daily activities and assisting in gathering and distributing information to team members. The role requires strong written and verbal communication skills and effective time management. 

 

Individuals that apply should be highly motivated and eager to learn in a fast-paced, exciting environment.

 

Responsibilities and Duties 
• Analyzing and resolving field construction issues. 
• Prepare, review, and distribute RFIs. Maintain RFI Log. 
• Maintain job files and as-builts. 
• Document review, storage, distribution, and archival.
• Aids superintendent in developing and maintaining the schedule.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents and subcontracts. 
• Prepare meeting minutes for all job meetings. 
• Complete required tasks daily: Purchase Orders, Work Orders, etc.
• Weekly project photos. 
• Inspect/verify material deliveries. 
• Manage project closeout and obtain all warranties required for final acceptance. 
• Maintain a punch list with the Superintendent. 
• Ensure company procedures and standards are maintained. 
• Other duties assigned. 

 

Qualifications 
• Associate degree and working towards a bachelor’s degree in construction                               management, Engineering, or equivalent required. 
• Willingness to learn and understand new ideas and approaches.
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications. 
• Time management and organizational skills. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft      Project.
