Summer Law Intern
Job Summary:
The Summer Law Intern will support attorneys in family law matters by assisting with legal research, drafting, and case preparation. This role offers hands-on experience with court proceedings, with exposure to custody, support, family offense, and matrimonial cases. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research on family law issues and summarize findings.
- Assist in drafting pleadings, motions, affidavits, and memoranda of law.
- Observe court appearances, hearings, and client meetings.
- Support case preparation, including organizing exhibits and case files.
- Review and summarize case documents, records, and correspondence.
- Assist with trial preparation and litigation strategy discussions.
- Communicate with staff to ensure efficient case management.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited law school (1L or 2L preferred).
- Strong academic record and interest in family law.
- Must be available to work in person in Hudson, NY.
- Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Professional demeanor and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Interest in client-centered, trauma-informed advocacy.v
