Job Title: Clinical Intern
Job Summary
The Clinical Intern supports the delivery of therapeutic and behavioral health services under the supervision of qualified professionals. This role provides hands-on experience in a clinical setting, including direct client interaction, documentation, and participation in treatment planning. The intern will gain practical skills while contributing to high-quality care for individuals served.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment or service plans
- Support clients in developing coping, social, and life skills
- Observe and participate in individual and group therapy sessions (as appropriate)
- Document client interactions, progress notes, and observations in a timely and accurate manner
- Collaborate with clinical staff and interdisciplinary teams
- Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards
- Participate in supervision meetings, trainings, and case reviews
- Provide support during crisis situations under supervision
- Assist with special projects
- Assist with special trainings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field
- Strong interest in behavioral health, mental health, or human services
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills for documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience (paid or volunteer) working with individuals with disabilities, mental health conditions, or diverse populations
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care or behavioral interventions
Supervision
- This position works under the direct supervision of a qualified supervisor
- Regular feedback and learning opportunities will be provided
Schedule & Requirements
- Flexible schedule based on academic requirements and program needs
- May include evenings, weekends, or community-based work depending on placement
Physical & Work Environment
- May require sitting, standing, and occasional lifting
- Work may occur in office, residential, or community-based settings
