Business Development Intern

We need a Business Development Intern for a position.

Position: Business Development Intern

Location: Based in Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland.  

  • Position Type: Contract

Travel: Frequent local travel mostly in Washington DC metro areas with occasional travel to locations nationwide. is required. Transportation expenses are reimbursed. 

Job description: 

iQ GovSolutions, a DBA of iQuasar LLC, is seeking a proactive and dynamic Business Development Intern to support iQuasar GovSolutions’ business development, capture, and outreach efforts with the federal, state, and local government agencies and departments and other potential business and contracting partners. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities, meeting with government agency and partner Points of Contact (POCs), nurturing relationships, and driving business growth in the public sector. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Conduct outreach to federal, state, and local government agencies, including in-person visits to departments and program offices. 

Build and maintain relationships with agency POCs, contracting officers, procurement officials, and other business partners. 

Schedule and attend meetings, presentations, and capability briefings with targeted agencies. 

Research and identify upcoming contract opportunities and RFPs relevant to our service offerings. 

Collaborate with internal proposal, business development/capture, and operations teams to align outreach efforts with bidding strategies. 

Represent the company at industry events, agency open houses, and networking sessions. 

Maintain accurate records of interactions, leads, and follow-ups in the CRM system. 

Provide feedback from agency interactions to help shape business strategy and offerings.

Required Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field. 

Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently present to decision-makers. 

Strong organizational and time-management skills with an ability to prioritize effectively. 

Proactive, self-motivated, and results-oriented with the ability to work independently. 

Familiarity with federal and state procurement processes is a plus 

Ability to travel frequently for meetings, site visits, and networking events  

Learning Objective: 

Over this period, intern will: 

Learn how to prepare visit agendas, identify decision-makers, and represent the organization professionally during in-person agency meetings. 

Develop the ability to initiate conversations, ask relevant questions, and document meeting outcomes to support business development goals. 

Gain experience in identifying government contract opportunities using online procurement portals, bid boards, and agency forecasts. 

Learn how to maintain a pipeline of leads, track status updates in a CRM, and ensure timely follow-through on action items. 

 Acquire knowledge of gathering technical and past performance inputs, formatting documents, and assisting in proposal submission processes. 

Understand event preparation, networking etiquette, and post-event follow-up strategies.
