Mechanical Engineering Intern
SUMMARY: Univertical seeks a proactive and solution-focused student intern to support the design and implementation of cost-effective equipment and process improvements. This role focuses on enhancing safety, machine reliability, preventative maintenance, engineering documentation, and operational efficiency while providing hands-on experience in a dynamic industrial environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adopt and improve safety best practices
- Research, design (SolidWorks), prototype, fabrication, and installation of equipment
- Root cause analysis and solution implementation
- Continuous improvement and optimization of manufacturing processes
- Edit and maintain engineering drawings of facility layouts (DraftSight)
- Documentation including work instructions and engineering prints
REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Driven and pro-active problem solver
- Effective written and oral communication
- Hands-on capability (hand tools use)
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Comfortable working in an industrial environment
- Machining and SolidWorks experience a plus
