College Coach

POSITION SUMMARY

You will be the trusted guide for highly invested families as they navigate one of the most critical periods of their child’s life, preparing for and applying to college.

As a College Coach at Kate Stone Prep, you’ll play a key role in driving student growth and long-term success by helping students identify their talents and interests, explore and map out what they want to pursue in life, and implement winning strategies to make them unreasonably competitive in the college admissions landscape.

Your job in the college prep phase (7th - 11th grade) will include a wide variety of responsibilities, from assessing course selection in school, independent studies outside of the classroom, and improving students’ time management and study skills. You will also help students identify, plan, and complete personal projects that set them apart in the application process. Your college prep responsibilities will also include teaching students how to cold outreach and nurture relationships to grow their personal network, find mentors, and build a board of advisors. You’ll also guide students to set and meet personal goals, contribute to their household, and yes, even keep up with chores. The application process begins in the summer before 11th grade and encompasses all aspects of researching a list of schools, writing all of the essays, and managing the work to complete early. Your work then carries on to the summer before they leave for college, when you will assess their college readiness and help them prepare for a successful launch in their freshman year.

Throughout the process, you will work closely with parents and students to keep them up to date, continually assess goals, and ensure our white-glove level of support is met at all times. You will also meet and work closely with our other coaches to brainstorm ideas, remove obstacles, and ensure that all students are achieving their full potential. While we have a solid curriculum to work from, regular training to deepen your knowledge and expand your skills is expected. You will also be expected to participate in marketing and sales campaigns to help serve our community and grow the business.

This role is perfect for someone who loves creative problem-solving, motivating others, and meeting goals. This job is part college coach, part career coach, part life coach, and part personal mentor. You will be a role model for “building a wildly successful life,” so we expect you to live what you teach. We have a saying around here that interesting people do interesting things! Our goal is to help you achieve your personal, professional, and financial goals.

Experience with college admissions is not required! We offer ongoing training, mentorship, and a significant opportunity for growth as we scale. The number of students you work with depends on your abilities and goals; however, the average load for a coach is 25 students. During the school year, most calls occur after school and occasionally on Saturdays, depending on students' availability.

Join us in transforming the college admissions journey and solving the education deficit, one family at a time.

Working with us means joining a team that is deeply devoted to the mission. We’re building something exceptional — a new standard of educational mentorship that high-achieving families instantly recognize as distinct.
