Preschool Teacher
Westminster School for Young Children seeks an energetic, nurturing, and positive person to serve as a teacher in our pre-school program. WSYC serves children 1 through 5 years of age and partners with families to provide developmentally appropriate preschool education in a respectful, creative, nurturing Christian environment. Our teachers are responsible for fostering a warm and accepting atmosphere while valuing and promoting play. Westminster School for Young Children is dedicated to creating an inclusive community.
Job requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs as indicated by a physician. This requirement ensures teachers are able to lift, carry, and aid young children in the classroom, including diapering/toileting help as needed, loading into a stroller and pushing a stroller.
Job requires moderate use of technology, such as emailing parents and updating class pages.
The ideal candidate has professional experience in early childhood education, or a related field. The school day is from 8:45 am – 2:00 pm. All teachers are on campus and working from 8:30 am – 2:25 pm, each day.
Desirable personal qualifications include:
- Sensitivity to the needs of children and their families.
- Knowledge of what constitutes a sound educational program for young children which recognizes a child’s needs at the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive levels.
- Possesses a warm and friendly personality and appreciates that each person is a special and unique human being.
- Genuine desire to work with parents.
- Willingness and ability to work with co-professionals in planning and implementing educational programs.
- Desire to continue growing professionally by reading, studying, attending conferences, etc.
