Dynamic ELA Teacher for Small Private High School

Westchester Hebrew High School, a small, private high school (9-12th grades), in Mamaroneck, NY, seeks a full-time English teacher to join our team. Qualified candidate will teach 9th and 12th grade English. Five classes, two preps, small class sizes.

In this position, you'll work with students in small classes, teaching both classic and contemporary literature while developing essential writing, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Friendly and collaborative environment. Great hours - be done teaching by 1pm. Candidates should have some teaching experience, have excellent oral and written communication skills and be willing to share their passion for ELA with our students.

What You'll Do:

• Design and deliver effective English instruction covering literature, writing, language mechanics, and vocabulary
• Create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and respectful discussion
• Develop meaningful assessments and provide timely feedback to guide student growth
• Adapt teaching methods to support different learning styles and abilities
• Collaborate with fellow teachers on curriculum development and educational practices
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom activities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree
• 1-3 years teaching experience preferred
• AP English experience is a plus
• Proficiency with educational technology
• Effective classroom management and communication skills
