District Office Congressional Summer Internship

The Detroit District Office of Congressman Shri Thanedar (MI-13) is now accepting applications for internships during the Summer 2026 term. This internship offers a unique opportunity to serve the constituents of Michigan’s 13th District while developing professional skills in government and community outreach. 

 

We are primarily looking for interns who can work in-person full-time but are open to part-time candidates. Both part-time and full-time interns are required to work in person. 

 

This internship position will be compensated either through a monthly stipend or through academic credit.

 

Duties include but are not limited to: 

• Answering phone calls 

• Greeting office visitors

• Attending community events and meetings to engage with local stakeholders.

• Assisting with casework

• Conducting research on local issues to support the office’s community engagement efforts

• Staffing the Congressman

We are looking for candidates with an eagerness to learn, customer service skills, and strong writing skills. Preference will be given to those who can start by the second week of May. End date is flexible but the typical length is four months. District ties and the ability to work events on weekends are pluses.
