Position Overview
The Southern Sports Network is seeking a reliable and skilled Camera Operator to support live production coverage of indoor football games in Marion, Ohio. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for sports broadcasting and live event production. The Camera Operator will play a key role in capturing high-quality footage that enhances the viewer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate broadcast cameras during live indoor football games
- Follow direction from the Producer and/or Director to capture game action, replays, and crowd shots
- Maintain consistent framing, focus, and exposure throughout the broadcast
- Anticipate gameplay to ensure smooth and dynamic coverage
- Assist with basic camera setup, teardown, and equipment care
- Communicate effectively with production staff via headset during games
- Adhere to all safety and venue guidelines
Schedule
- 4–6 games total (All games are on Saturday)
- Must arrive prior to game time for setup and production meetings
Qualifications
- Previous experience in camera operation (sports or live events preferred)
- Basic understanding of football and game flow is highly preferred
- Ability to follow live direction and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
- Ability to stand for extended periods and operate equipment
- Reliable transportation to Marion, OH
Preferred Skills
- Experience with broadcast-style cameras and tripods
- Familiarity with live streaming or sports production environments
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
