StreetLeader Program Manager

Position Overview

UrbanPromise Los Angeles is seeking a StreetLeader Program Manager from June 15 – Aug 5, 2026 to supervise, mentor, and develop the high school students who serve as counselors, tutors, and mentors during the 2026 Summer Camp program.

The StreetLeader Program Manager serves as the direct supervisor and coach of the StreetLeaders, providing daily guidance, accountability, and leadership development. StreetLeaders act as the primary camp counselors and instructors for younger students.

Working closely with the Summer Camp Director, this role helps ensure high-quality programming while cultivating the leadership growth of the teens serving in the program. This is a seasonal leadership role with the opportunity for future involvement or growth within UrbanPromise Los Angeles programs.


Essential Responsibilities

StreetLeader Supervision & Leadership

Serve as the direct supervisor and mentor for StreetLeaders during the summer program. Responsibilities include:

  • Tracking StreetLeader work hours and attendance
  • Providing daily coaching, guidance, and encouragement
  • Conducting performance evaluations and feedback conversations
  • Holding StreetLeaders accountable to program expectations
  • Supporting the professional growth of teenage leaders

Instructional Coaching & Program Quality

Support StreetLeaders in delivering effective lessons and programming. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting StreetLeaders in preparing and delivering lessons
  • Reviewing lesson plans and providing feedback
  • Observing classes and providing coaching
  • Maintaining strong engagement and quality instruction throughout the day
  • Program areas include:
  • Reading & Literacy
  • STEM
  • Bible / Faith-Based Instruction
  • Enrichment Activities
  • Recreational Programming

Co-Leadership of Summer Camp

Work closely with the Summer Camp Director to support daily camp operations. Responsibilities include:

  • Helping ensure the daily schedule runs smoothly
  • Supporting classroom management and student engagement
  • Assisting with activity transitions and program coordination
  • Helping oversee enrichment activities, recreational periods, and special events

Teen Leadership Development

Support the leadership and personal development of StreetLeaders by:

  • Facilitating reflection and leadership discussions
  • Encouraging growth in responsibility, teamwork, and communication
  • Modeling professionalism and servant leadership
  • Supporting devotions, prayer, and spiritual reflection

College Access & Career Development

Support the long-term development of StreetLeaders by:

  • Co-facilitating college access and career readiness workshops
  • Encouraging academic growth and future planning
  • Providing guidance related to college and career pathways

Team & Volunteer Coordination

Support the broader camp staff team by:

  • Helping supervise interns and volunteers working alongside StreetLeaders
  • Modeling strong teamwork and professionalism
  • Supporting a collaborative and mission-driven staff culture

Relationship to the Summer Camp Director

The StreetLeader Program Manager works in close partnership with the Summer Camp Director to ensure the success of the Summer Camp program.

While the Summer Camp Director oversees the overall camp schedule, operations, and family communication, the StreetLeader Program Manager focuses specifically on mentoring, supervising, and developing the StreetLeaders who serve as counselors and instructors.

Together, these two roles ensure both:

  • High-quality camp programming for children
  • Strong leadership development for the teenage staff

Qualifications / Additional Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working with youth, teens, camps, schools, ministries, or afterschool programs
  • Experience mentoring or supervising young people strongly preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred
  • Ability to work full camp schedule (approximately 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM during camp weeks)
