About Camp Emerson
Camp Emerson is a co-ed sleep-away camp that is nestled in the heart of The Berkshires! We provide enriching and exciting experiences for children ages 7 - 16 through a diverse program of outdoor adventures, creative pursuits, and skill-building activities.
About the Role
You'll be responsible for:
- Creating a safe and supportive environment: Ensuring the well-being and happiness of your campers is your top priority. You'll be their guide, confidante, and cheerleader, fostering a sense of belonging and community within your bunk.
- Leading the way in fun and adventure: From epic games and creative activities to exploring nature and conquering challenges, you'll be the one igniting imaginations and making every day an exciting adventure.
- Partnering with a co-counselor: You'll work hand-in-hand with another counselor to ensure seamless supervision, share ideas, and create a dynamic team for your bunk.
- Mediating conflicts with compassion and understanding: Disagreements are inevitable, but you'll be equipped to handle them with a cool head and a kind heart, helping your campers learn valuable communication and problem-solving skills.
- Bringing your energy and enthusiasm to special events and evening activities: You'll be an active participant in camp-wide events, talent shows, and nighttime campfire gatherings, adding your unique spark to every experience.
Every bunk counselor is also an activity specialist! While your campers are off learning new skills, you’ll be teaching a group of campers in your programming area!
Qualifications
- A genuine love for working with children and a passion for creating positive experiences.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues.
- A positive attitude, a sense of humor, and enthusiasm!
- The ability to handle challenging situations with patience, understanding, and creativity.
- Experience working with children in a camp setting is a plus, but not required.
