Organist

St. John Lutheran Church (Celina, OH) is currently seeking an Organist for our Sunday morning Traditional Worship Service.

The Organist will:

• Select and provide organ or keyboard music for all traditional Sunday worship services, mid-week worship occasions, and all special celebrations of worship where the organ is the primary instrument used.
• Rehearse sufficiently to maintain a high quality of music at the organ.
• Accompany adult choir, other vocalists and instrumentalists as needed.
• Select appropriate hymns, which are reflective of the liturgical season and designated scripture texts, in conjunction with the pastor.
• Be given the first option to provide organ music for all weddings and funerals held at the church when the organ is the primary instrument used. The couple or family pays fees for these services.
• Arrange for substitute organists during periods of absence.
• Submit information for Sunday bulletins in a timely fashion as determined by the staff.
• Report the condition and maintenance needs of the church organ and pianos to the Business Manager. Help make arrangements for service & repair as requested.
• Cooperate with all staff and musicians of the congregation so that music ministry is enhanced within the life of the church.

The Organist is expected to work approximately 5 hours per week, including rehearsals, preparation and collaboration time, and leading the music of the traditional worship service.

Bachelors degree in music preferred.

2+ years of playing organ in worship services.

Must be able to walk a flight of stairs to reach organ console.
