Position Title: Toddler Teacher
Organization: Academy for Early Learning (AEL)
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Position Summary
The Toddler Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment for children ages 1–3 years old. The teacher supports social-emotional development, language growth, independence, and early learning through developmentally appropriate practices, positive guidance, and consistent routines.
Primary Responsibilities
Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
Implement daily lesson plans and age-appropriate activities (music, movement, sensory play, art, and language experiences)
Support daily routines including diapering, toileting readiness, meals, and nap time
Observe and document children’s development and share progress with families
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and caregivers
Collaborate with co-teachers and administration to support classroom management and consistency
Follow all DHS licensing regulations and AEL policies
Qualifications
CDA in Early Childhood Education or willingness to obtain within an agreed timeframe
Experience working with young children (child care, classroom, or related setting preferred)
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and actively engage with children on the floor and playground
Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
