Hours per week: 24-30 hrs | Desired start date: May 15-June 10, 2026 | Desired end date: June 2026-June 2027 (can be 12-24 months - longer term preferred) | Paid: $20-23/hr

 

New York Retina Care is a growing privately-owned medical practice on the Upper East side looking for a self-motivated, personable, and professional student to join as an ophthalmology assistant. This position is ideal for pre-medical or pre-optometry students looking for clinical experience before medical or graduate school.  Our goal is to integrate qualified candidates into the daily flow of our specialized ophthalmology practice and offer hands-on training in patient care under the mentorship of a board-certified retina surgeon. You will be hands-on with patients with a variety of diseases and get to see systemic diseases in the eye. We perform injections, lasers, and other procedures daily. 

 

Duties include but are not limited to checking in and screening patients, taking medical histories, performing imaging, and preparing rooms for patient examinations and procedures. Additional duties may include emergency authorizations and preparing charts. Qualified individuals will be fully trained on the job.  The application deadline is May 14, 2026.

 

Qualifications: Must have a 4-year undergraduate degree, equivalent foreign schooling, or be working towards graduation. Fluency in a foreign language is a plus, especially Spanish. Please let us know in your cover letter if you speak Spanish.
