OutSystems Application Development Intern

About the Role

Join FCPS's IT modernization effort and gain hands-on experience building real enterprise applications used by thousands of students, staff, and administrators. As an OutSystems Application Development Intern, you'll work alongside experienced developers and project managers to modernize legacy systems using the OutSystems low-code platform (O11).

What You'll Do

  • Develop and test web applications on the OutSystems O11 platform under the guidance of senior developers
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle — from requirements gathering to deployment
  • Contribute to the migration of legacy ColdFusion applications to modern low-code architecture
  • Build and consume REST APIs and integrate with enterprise data sources
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including infrastructure, data, and business stakeholders
  • Document application logic, data models, and technical specifications

What We're Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Familiarity with web development concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL)
  • Exposure to relational databases and basic data modeling
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Self-starter who can manage tasks independently in an enterprise environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with any low-code/no-code platform (OutSystems, ServiceNow, Power Apps, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development practices
  • Experience with API integrations or authentication concepts (SSO, OAuth)
  • Prior internship or project experience in an IT or software development setting
