Category Manager Intern

eBay will be conducting a virtual Interview Day exclusively for this role on Friday, April 10, 2026. Candidates applying for this role must be available for a 1.5-hour interview block on this day. Interviews will not be conducted on alternative dates or rescheduled.

One Application, Multiple Paths This single application serves as the entry point for four of eBay’s most dynamic "Focus Category" teams. While you are applying to one general internship posting, successful candidates will be matched with one of the following verticals based on interest, experience, and business need:

  • Trading Cards: The heart of the hobby, from TCG to Pokemon, to sports collectibles.
  • Luxury Watches: High-value commerce driven by authenticity and trust.
  • eBay Live: The frontier of social commerce and real-time interactive shopping.
  • Motors: Supporting the massive community of P&A (Parts & Accessories) and vehicle enthusiasts.

The Role

Based in San Jose, CA, you will immerse yourself in the strategic side of e-commerce. You won't just be watching from the sidelines; you’ll be building go-to-market strategies and growth plans for one of the most influential marketplaces in the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vertical Deep-Dive: Own a major project within your assigned category (e.g., Motors or Luxury) that delivers measurable business results.
  • Strategic Analysis: Perform competitor assessments and analyze marketplace data to identify "white space" opportunities for growth.
  • Operational Support: Assist with digital tasks including data collection, reporting, creative content coordination, and site quality checks.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, Product, and Operations—as well as external buyers and sellers—to hit category objectives.
  • Executive Presentation: Showcase your impact by presenting your summer findings to senior leadership at the end of the program.

Requirements

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a 4-year accredited US university with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or June 2027.
  • Experience: 0–3 years of work or internship experience.
  • Enthusiast Mindset: A genuine interest in how specialized communities (like watch collectors or gearheads) shop online.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to turn large sets of qualitative and quantitative data into actionable business trends.
  • Tech Savvy: Familiarity with AI powered tools and Intermediate to advanced experience in spreadsheets and slides
  • Agility: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where digital innovation moves daily.
