Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) work alongside individuals with disabilities, helping them achieve their goals while promoting dignity, independence, and a safe, healthy environment. We are looking for healthcare-focused college students to support our friends while we support you!

Personal Care & Daily Living

Direct Support Professionals provide hands-on assistance with essential daily care to ensure comfort, dignity, and well-being. This includes support with bathing, showering, grooming, hair care, toileting, incontinence care, and specialized needs such as colostomy and catheter care. Staff help individuals maintain independence while receiving the level of care they need.  

Mobility, Transfers & Physical Support

DSPs assist individuals with safe movement and positioning throughout the day. Responsibilities include supporting ambulation using gait trainers and TRAM devices, assisting with manual and powered wheelchairs, and applying/removing orthotic devices such as AFOs. Staff are also trained in safe transfers, including the use of Hoyer lifts, to ensure safety and comfort.  

Medical & Health-Related Care

Our team supports a wide range of medical needs under established care protocols. This includes monitoring vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, oxygen levels), assisting with oxygen use, and providing respiratory care such as trach care, suctioning, nebulizer treatments, inhalants, and pulmonary vest therapy. DSPs are trained to observe and report any physical, emotional, or behavioral changes.  

Nutrition, Feeding & Medication Administration

DSPs assist with all aspects of nutrition and medication management. This includes meal preparation, use of adaptive feeding equipment, and following specialized dietary plans. Staff are trained to administer nutrition via g-tube or g/j tube and operate feeding pumps. Medication responsibilities include safe preparation and administration of medications (including injections, topical treatments, and tube-administered meds) in compliance with CARF standards.  

Community Engagement & Skill Development

Supporting meaningful, fulfilling lives is at the heart of this role. DSPs help individuals participate in community outings, build relationships, and stay connected. Staff also implement CLS programs, helping individuals work toward personal goals and increase independence in everyday activities.  

Documentation, Team Collaboration & Home Environment

DSPs maintain accurate documentation through electronic charting systems to ensure continuity of care. They work closely with an interdisciplinary team - including families, physicians, therapists, case managers, and community mental health professionals - to advocate for each individual. Responsibilities also include maintaining a clean, safe living environment through routine housekeeping and deep cleaning tasks.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be able to be active on your feet for 8-10 hours
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds without restriction
  • Must be 18 years old
