SAE Marketing & Outreach Internship

Internship Description
This position’s primary duty is to promote all Study Abroad & Exchange (SAE) Programs within International Education & Global Engagement (IEGE) initiatives that focus on marketing, outreach and recruitment on campus and across International Education (IE) networks. In addition, the SAE Marketing & Outreach Intern supports with the development and maintenance of materials and resources to promote IEGE efforts and to better support students, faculty and staff at Chico State in exploring global opportunities. Under the guidance and support of the Study Abroad & Exchange Coordinator, this position will closely collaborate with professional and student staff at IEGE, campus and IE partners. 
This is an unpaid internship. Students must complete the required hours—45 hours per unit, up to 3 units (maximum 135 hours)—to earn academic credit. You must enroll in INED 389 if you are accepted.

 

Responsibilities:
Supports the development of inclusive, accessible and representative marketing and outreach materials in an effort to reach a greater campus audience. 

Collaborates with SAE/IEGE staff and student team on marketing and outreach, including attending and leading (in-person/hybrid and virtual) info sessions, presentations, events, and podcast development, while supporting social media platforms and content campaigns (e.g. marketing campaigns, content development, and relatable duties). 

Holds regular office hours, attends SAE and M&O meetings, and is occasionally available for evening and weekend events or projects. 

Supports the SAE/IEGE outreach effort to strengthen alliances and outreach to campus partners, student clubs, organizations, etc. (emailing clubs and organizations, creating flyers, promoting events, or similar tasks). 

Use creativity to develop recruiting techniques, create posts/flyers via Canva, podcast episodes, and strengthen audience engagement, while following branding guidelines. 

Supports the development of branding guidelines for SAE/IEGE (e.g. branding manual, creating templates, organizing marketing processes). 

Collaboration efforts with the International Wildcat Program (IWP) and other international student clubs to foster inclusive cross-cultural spaces.
 

Requirements:
Currently enrolled as a Chico State student. 

Leads with professionalism and compassion, has a passion for global, cross-cultural opportunities and is equity minded. 

Basic administrative skills (e.g. typing, basic computer applications, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, or related programs). 

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and prioritization skills, with attention to detail, reliability, flexibility, and has the ability to work independently or collaboratively. 

Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills. 

Ability to maintain composure during busy periods, and a willingness to be flexible in order to accommodate unexpected challenges and changes, during both the planning and execution of daily tasks and events. 

Successful applicants are expected to start in early August 2026 to attend a student employee orientation with International Education and Global Engagement and SAE (successful applicants will be provided with updates).  

Preferred (not required):
Currently enrolled Chico State student with at least two semesters remaining, who has participated in a Chico State study abroad or exchange program or gained international or domestic immersive experience through work, volunteer, or internship opportunities.
