 TITLE:  School Counselor

 REPORTS TO:  Principal of Keith Valley Middle School

 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  10 month, 191.5 days/yr., salary in accordance with HHEA Professional Agreement. 

 BENEFITS:  Eligible, personal days, sick days

 LOCATION:  Keith Valley Middle School

 

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION:

Provide counseling to middle school students in the areas of personal, social, career, and educational development through a comprehensive school counseling program tailored to the unique developmental needs of early adolescents. Build strong relationships with students while delivering engaging classroom lessons and facilitating small groups that support students’ academic success, social-emotional growth, and college/career awareness.

Guide students through important transitions and empower them to make informed decisions about course selection and future goals. Use student data, assessments, and individual planning to provide personalized support and advocate for each student’s success.

Collaborate as a contributing member of the counseling team; strong leadership and teamwork skills are essential. Applicants with multiple language fluency are highly encouraged to apply. Experience with secondary students is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a middle school counselor or working with early adolescents
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse students, families, and staff
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with technology and student information systems
  • Experience delivering classroom lessons and facilitating small groups
  • Knowledge of student transitions and course planning
  • Commitment to a student-centered, inclusive environment

 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:  Valid PA certification K-12 OR Secondary School Counselor required
