UK Scientific Symposium Support Intern

The Focused Ultrasound Foundation (FUSF) is a unique, medical research, education, and advocacy organization created as the catalyst to accelerate the development and adoption of focused ultrasound. JOB SUMMARY

The Focused Ultrasound Foundation is seeking a summer intern to work with our UK Focused Ultrasound Foundation team on projects related to our inaugural UK Focused Ultrasound Symposium. This is an exciting opportunity to gain broad exposure to the world of focused ultrasound through the lens of the UK FUSF program.

This position requires full-time work in our Charlottesville-based office, during the summer, however there is the flexibility for this position to be remote or hybrid. Applicants from the UK will also be considered for this position on a remote working basis, with the potential for some UK travel. 

Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with room for some flexibility. There is also some flexibility in the start and end dates of this internship. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support planning and coordination of the inaugural UK Focused Ultrasound Symposium to be held on 28 September 2026, including liaising with the venue management and coordinating session logistics
  • Assist with stakeholder outreach to UK clinicians, researchers, industry partners, and donors
  • Track registrations, invitations, and follow-up communications in Salesforce
  • Prepare briefing materials, necessary bios, and internal meeting summaries
  • Support sponsorship tracking and outreach
  • Draft and edit event communications, including invitations, reminder emails, requests for bios, etc. 
  • Provide support in the development of the Symposium event program
  • Provide administrative and project support to the UK program team as needed, including communications and media activities

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher; biomedical engineering or other health science field preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications 
  • Salesforce experience a plus
  • An interest in focused ultrasound
  • Strong self-motivation and organizational skills
  • Understanding of and respect for the importance of confidentiality

 

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

  • A final presentation to the FUSF staff at the conclusion of the internship
