I.    WLS Level: 5

II.   Description Of Duties For This Position:

A.    Duties and Requirements of CES Level 4

B.    Oversee sales floor

C.    Oversee and supervise sales floor staff

D.    Train student staff as necessary

E.     Be able to open and close Gallery without supervision

F.      Assign and delegate tasks as needed for Log House operations

G.    Be responsible for aspects of operations in absence of full-time store manager or CES Level 6 Director, as defined by full-time managers

H.    Be knowledgeable about the basics of all store operations at both the Log House and Visitor’s Center

I.      Be a role model for staff members, both in and out of the store

J.     Be able to work through difficult situations independently, seeking help when needed

K.    Complete monthly sales reports

L.    Participate as a member of a team on projects

M.   Act as a leader when necessary

N.    Assist in planning and carrying out weekly labor meetings

O.    Embody the ideals that make one a Berean: the power of love over hate, one blood, etc.

P.     Attend all labor meetings

Q.    Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

III. Learning Opportunities For This Position:

A.     Learn how a business runs and general manager skills

B.     Learn how to address unique problems without supervision

C.     Learn how to manage people, including adherence to store policies, provide input for evaluations, interview new staff, and to delegate duties

D.     Participate in weekly labor meetings

IV.     Qualifications Needed For This Position:

A.   Interest and motivation in working with staff members and the community, while supporting the educational mission of the College and department

B.   Must be in good academic and financial standing with the College and may not be on any disciplinary probation during the time of employment

C.   Enjoy meeting and talking with strangers daily

D.  Passionate about telling the Berea College story

E.   Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable, moving from one task to another quickly

F.   Possess high levels of energy, organization skills, self-discipline, and initiative

G.  Be able and willing to be on feet for duration of shift, climb stairs and move about store comfortably

H.  Occasionally lift boxes 15lbs or more
