ROLE OVERVIEW 

The Videographer Intern will play an integral role in capturing, producing, and editing video content that reflects the mission and energy of The Anthem Academy. This is a hybrid position — interns will be expected to attend on-site shoots, events, and program activities in New York City, as well as complete editing and post-production work remotely. This role is ideal for a film student, media arts major, or emerging creative professional looking to build a professional portfolio while gaining hands-on nonprofit media experience. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Film and document programs, events, workshops, and student showcases hosted by The Anthem Academy across NYC 

• Produce short-form video content for social media platforms including Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube 

• Edit raw footage into polished, mission-aligned video pieces using professional editing software 

• Collaborate with program staff to conceptualize and execute video projects that tell compelling stories 

• Capture b-roll, interviews, and testimonials with students, staff, and community partners 

• Assist in developing creative briefs and production timelines for video campaigns 

• Maintain an organized digital library of raw footage and completed project files 

• Provide input on visual storytelling strategies and content direction during team meetings 

• Support live streaming or hybrid event production as needed
 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS 

Required: 

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university program in film, media production, communications, journalism, or a related field 

• Must be based in New York City or the immediate surrounding area — in-person availability is required for shoots and events 

• Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent) 

• Submission of a portfolio or video reel demonstrating previous video work (required for consideration — see Application Instructions below) 

• Ability to commit to a 6-, 9-, or 12-month internship term 

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects under deadline 

• Positive attitude, collaborative spirit, and genuine passion for community and youth empowerment 

 

Preferred: 

• Experience shooting with DSLR, mirrorless cameras, or cinema-grade equipment 

• Familiarity with Adobe After Effects, motion graphics, or color grading workflows 

• Experience creating content for nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, or community programs 

• Basic knowledge of audio production and sound design 

• Photography skills are a plus

 

INTERNSHIP TERMS 

6 Months 8–12 hours/week Unpaid — Academic Credit Eligible 

9 Months 8–12 hours/week Unpaid — Academic Credit Eligible 

12 Months 10–15 hours/week Unpaid — Academic Credit Eligible 

 

Interns are responsible for coordinating academic credit with their institution. The Anthem Academy will provide all necessary documentation and supervisor evaluations to facilitate the credit approval process.
