Planning Intern
SALARY/PAY: $20.00/per hour; up to 40 hours per week, beginning June 1, 2026.
DUTIES: The Town of Derry Planning Office will be hiring a Planning Intern beginning June 1, 2026. Under the general direction of the Director of Planning, the Planning Intern will support a range of planning projects focused on enhancing land use policies, procedures, and community engagement. This role will involve assisting the Director with research, data collection, report preparation, outreach efforts, and plan review. The successful candidate will attend and participate in Planning Board meetings. This position will offer valuable hands-on experience with planning principles and practices, as well as the opportunity to contribute to projects that directly impact the daily lives of the residents of Derry.
REQUIREMENTS: Candidates for this position must:
• Be enrolled in a related field of study (Urban Planning, Community Development, Architecture, Civil Engineering)
• Have a valid driver's license
• Have knowledge of zoning law, land use, and community engagement/outreach practices.
OUTCOMES: The successful Intern will:
• Gain valuable hands-on experience working on a variety of planning projects and initiatives.
• Build connections with professionals in the planning and public policy fields in the 4th largest community in New Hampshire.
• Contribute to meaningful projects that directly impact the community and its residents.
