Instructional Paraprofessional Position

Paraprofessional Position Overview

Paraprofessionals assist teachers in creating a well-organized, smoothly functioning educational environment where students can fully benefit from the instructional program and available resources. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Highly Qualified Teacher.

Assignments may include supporting students with exceptional needs—both academic and behavioral. Training will be provided on best practices and required curriculum. Duties vary depending on the needs of the classroom, school, or program.

Common Duties of Paraprofessionals

Classroom Assistance: Support classroom management, prepare materials, and help maintain a productive learning environment.

Individual Student Support: Work one-on-one with students needing additional academic or behavioral assistance, including students with disabilities.

Small Group Instruction: Lead small groups in targeted activities (e.g., reading, math) as directed by the teacher.

Behavioral Support: Assist in implementing behavior plans, reinforcing expectations, and promoting positive social interactions.

Supervision: Monitor students during non-classroom times such as lunch, recess, arrival/dismissal, and field trips.

Administrative Support: Help with attendance, grading, record-keeping, and other clerical tasks.

Communication: Support communication between teachers, students, parents, and school staff.

Adaptation of Materials: Modify instructional materials or lesson components to meet individual student needs.

Technology Support: Assist students with the use of educational software, devices, and other classroom technology.

Physical Assistance: Provide support for students with physical disabilities, which may include mobility assistance, feeding, toileting, or other daily living needs.

Other Duties as Assigned: Responsibilities may vary based on the specific needs of students or the program.

Available Positions

We are hiring paraprofessionals for full-time and part-time positions at school sites across the district.
Interviewing for the paraprofessional pool allows candidates to be considered for multiple locations.
Final placement will require an interview with the specific school site.
Hours per day typically range between 4–7 hours.

Typical Work Hours:

Elementary: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Middle School: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM

High School: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Supplement Pay Opportunities

Candidates may be eligible for additional hourly supplements based on assignment:

Toileting and Feeding Support Supplement:
+$1/hour for assignments requiring assistance with student toileting and feeding.

Everhart Assignment Supplement:
+$1/hour for assignments located at Everhart.

Combined Supplements:
If an Everhart assignment also requires toileting and feeding support, candidates receive both supplements, totaling +$2/hour.

If a paraprofessional later transfers to a different assignment where these duties are not required, the supplement(s) will no longer apply.

Para-to-Teacher Program

Employees serving as paraprofessionals may be eligible to participate in the district’s Para-to-Teacher Program at no cost. Additional information will be provided upon employment.
