JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Pharmacist to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this vital role, you will oversee medication dispensing, patient counseling, and medication management within our pharmacy. Your expertise will support optimal patient outcomes through clinical services, medication safety, and efficient pharmacy operations.
DUTIES
- Serve patients by preparing medications, giving pharmacological information to the multidisciplinary health care team, and monitoring patient drug therapies.
- Review and interpret physician orders and detect therapeutic incompatibilities.
- Dispense medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
- Control medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.
- Complete pharmacy operational requirements by organizing, directing, and supervising technicians’ workflow, verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, verifying order entries, charges, and inspections, and maintaining appropriate inventory to ensure availability of necessary medications.
- Manage processes for the 340B retail pharmacy program to ensure compliance and optimal pricing/reimbursement/inventory replenishment.
- Provide pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals and counseling patients on drug therapies.
- Develop staff retail pharmacy knowledge by participating in clinical programs and training pharmacy technicians and support personnel, students, interns, externs, residents, and health care professionals.
- Comply with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
- Maintain records for controlled substances and remove outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory.
- Protect patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and Morton County Health Systems policy.
- Assist in the development, implementation, enforcement, and maintenance of appropriate policies and procedures.
- Report operational and patient care issues or concerns to the Director of Pharmacy.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Graduate of an institution accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)
- Current Pharmacist License from the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy
- 1-2 years’ experience in retail pharmacy, preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSURE, REGISTRATIONS
- Current Pharmacist License (Pharmacist) from the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification approved by the American Heart Association upon hire or within the first 60 days of employment and must maintain a valid BLS certification throughout your employment.
