RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Mentor undergraduate student MavPASS Leaders to help them perform effectively in their roles.
- Assist with MavPASS Leader pre-semester training.
- Observe MavPASS sessions and coach Leaders to help them improve.
- Manage a team of 10-15 MavPASS Leaders.
- Facilitate approximately 3 team meetings/month.
- Help Leaders develop strong session plans, facilitation skills, and communicative abilities.
- Maintain consistent communication about strengths and weaknesses of the Leaders with the MavPASS Coordinator and MavPASS Faculty Liaison.
- Fulfill other program duties, as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with teaching, training, tutoring, mentoring, and/or coaching undergraduate students
- Ability to organize time and tasks
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with and lead teams
- A Bachelor's Degree
- Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
- Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 1 year experience teaching in a university environment.
- Experience working in or with a student success program (i.e., Honors, Oasis, TRIO, PSEO, learning community, tutoring center, or other student support service.)
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.
RELATED INFORMATION:
Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
