The Role
The Tech Designer will work directly with management and vendors to develop new products and product lines.
Product development
- Create detailed tech packs: measurements, construction, materials, and trim specs
- Utilize CAD and Adobe Illustrator to develop flats and 3D models of garments
- Select fabrics, trims, and finishes, including dyes and specialty treatments
- Evaluate proto, fit, and pre-production samples and communicate adjustment instructions
- Refine grading, specs, and construction details to ensure production standards are met
- Identify and resolve quality or construction issues early in the development process
Vendor & Production Management
- Communicate directly with factories throughout the full design, sampling and production lifecycle
- Ensure factories are executing tech packs accurately and provide continuous feedback
- Track development according to deadlines
Product Direction & Line Development
- Ideate new products and categories that align with the brand vision
- Identify opportunities to improve existing styles
- Work closely with leadership to shape brand apparel vision
Ideal qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Development, or related field
- 2–5+ years of experience in apparel design, technical design, or product development
- Experience in full lifecycle production: pattern making, grading, construction materials, costing, manufacturing and quality assurance
- Strong experience creating tech packs, specs, and garment construction details
- Deep understanding of fit, grading, and fabric behavior
- Direct experience working with factories
- Experience across athletic/sports apparel categories a must
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator
- Must provide a portfolio to be considered
