Minnesota Power is seeking a Civil Engineer III to join its Engineering Services team to lead utility-scale infrastructure projects far beyond the scope and scale of many other industries.

In this role, you’ll follow a clear advancement path to the Senior Engineer role during our major expansion phase.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from EAC-ABET-accredited program.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
    • If not already a Minnesota Professional Engineer, must have the ability to become licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota within six months.
  • Four years or more of related engineering experience.
    • A master’s degree in engineering may be equivalent for up to one year of related experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to project sites.
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match, and/or aptitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project and construction management experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide engineering expertise, including design and design oversight, on capital projects for transmission/distribution lines, substations, and generation facilities.
  • Manage energy related projects from inception to delivery with responsibilities including project schedule development, engineering oversight, budgeting, permitting, security, procurement, bidding, contracting and construction.
  • Develop and lead civil and structural engineering projects, guiding teams, vendors, and consultants to ensure performance, goal achievement, and successful execution.
  • Actively engage in all project phases from conceptualization through construction and commissioning with time spent both in office and in the field.
  • Support development of standards for design, materials, construction, and operations.
  • Work on cutting-edge renewable energy and grid modernization initiatives.
  • Gain exposure to thermal plants, emerging technologies, and large-scale infrastructure.

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $94,000 - $117,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
